10-4-21   THOUGHTS

David makes a major prophecy in the passages below.  He speaks of death with confidence, power and hope.  Peter in Acts 2 looks backward and gives the sense!  That SENSE is awesomely and eternally powerful!  From David to you and me, this HOPE stands firm!

Ps 16:-11   The LORD is the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You support my lot. 6  The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Indeed, my heritage is beautiful to me. 7  I will bless the LORD who has counseled me; Indeed, my mind instructs me in the night. 8  I have set the LORD continually before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. 9  Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will dwell securely. 10  For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; Nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay. 11  You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.

Acts 2:24-36   "But God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power. 25  "For David says of Him, ‘I SAW THE LORD ALWAYS IN MY PRESENCE; FOR HE IS AT MY RIGHT HAND, SO THAT I WILL NOT BE SHAKEN. 26  ‘THEREFORE MY HEART WAS GLAD AND MY TONGUE EXULTED; MOREOVER MY FLESH ALSO WILL LIVE IN HOPE; 27  BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT ABANDON MY SOUL TO HADES, NOR ALLOW YOUR HOLY ONE TO UNDERGO DECAY. 28  ‘YOU HAVE MADE KNOWN TO ME THE WAYS OF LIFE; YOU WILL MAKE ME FULL OF GLADNESS WITH YOUR PRESENCE.’ 29  "Brethren, I may confidently say to you regarding the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. 30  "And so, because he was a prophet and knew that GOD HAD SWORN TO HIM WITH AN OATH TO SEAT one OF HIS DESCENDANTS ON HIS THRONE, 31  he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that HE WAS NEITHER ABANDONED TO HADES, NOR DID His flesh SUFFER DECAY. 32  "This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are all witnesses. 33  "Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear. 34  "For it was not David who ascended into heaven, but he himself says: ‘THE LORD SAID TO MY LORD, "SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, 35  UNTIL I MAKE YOUR ENEMIES A FOOTSTOOL FOR YOUR FEET."’ 36  "Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ — this Jesus whom you crucified."
Acts 13:35-38    Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. 36  For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption: 37  But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption. 38  Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:

My Prayer:
How wonderful O Lord that we can read and believe the words above.  Our Lord intercedes and mediates for us even now and is our Advocate with you O God.  What comfort and assurance is ours because you love us.  Thank you, and all praise to your name.   In the name of Jesus   Amen
